David Fox

Senior High Principal

David Fox joined W-SR in the 2008-09 school year as the associate high school principal.  Before coming to W-SR, he has served as a high school principal at Valley Community School and AGWSR Community Schools.  Prior to becoming a principal, he was a 6-8 English teacher and coach at Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock Community Schools.

His wife, Cheryl, is a 6th grade teacher at Irving Elementary.  They have three daughters, Gabrielle, Hannah, and Lauren.   Both he and his wife are Wartburg College graduates, and they enjoy being back in Waverly near family and friends.

Hi Everyone! My wife Trista and I have been married for three years and have three daughters: Madison, Kalli, and Lexie. Rounding out our family is our cocker spaniel named Gunner. I enjoy camping, fishing, and playing tennis.  I like to travel theU.S. and have been to over 40 states. You might not have expected, but I am a W-SR graduate.  I went to Hawkeye Community college, then UNI to graduated with  high honors, and a major in Technology Education and a minor in General Industry. I also have by Masters in Technology Integration, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Graceland University. During the summer I coordinate the EMC2 group for HCC, which allows selected highly motivated students to get involved with metal working experiences at local businesses, while earning college credit at Hawkeye Community College.

I am in my first year teaching at W-SR.  My wife Beth is the Assistant Director at the Waverly Public Library.  We have two children who are both graduates of Waverly-Shell Rock.  Lynley is a junior at the University of Iowa majoring in social work.  She is also a member of the Hawkeye Women’s Rowing Team.  Sam is a sophomore at Hawkeye Community College working on his general education courses. 

I earned a Bachelors of Business Administration (Finance) degree from the University of Iowa. After college we owned a family farming operation for 12 years.  That’s when I got the crazy idea that I would like to work with teenagers on a daily basis so I eventually returned to school and got my degree in General Business Education from Upper Iowa University. I currently teach personal finance, visual tech, MOC, and yearbook. 

I love warm weather and being outside riding bike, walking, or working around the yard.  I am fan of many different sports and can frequently be found watching them on TV or in person.  Our family is involved in mission work and we have been blessed to be able to help out at an orphanage in Haiti for the last 5 years as well as work at a school in Uganda two years ago.  I look forward to many great days ahead at W-SR High School.
