Kent Prescott

Middle School English

  • Mr. Prescott started teaching in 1984.  He is kind of old!
  • He came to W-SR Middle School in 1994.  That is getting to be a long time ago!
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree English Literature and Criticism at Morningside College at Sioux City, IA, in 1984; Masters Degree in Secondary Education at Viterbo University at La Crosse, WI, in 1997; and Secondary Principal Coursework at Iowa State University in 2000-2002.
  • Born September 20, 1960.
  • Mr. Prescott and his wife Diane married on December 23, 1984. They have five children-- Jordan (22), Keri (19), Mason (15), Cole (13), and Emmalia (12); plus a toy American fox terrier, Zoey, and a cat, Punkin.
  • His favorite hobby (more like an obsession) is following the Iowa Hawkeye football team, plus he enjoys officiating high school and college volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and softball and baseball in the summer. He also enjoys making his world-famous homemade ice cream and chocolate chip cookies with his kids, playing cards, reading, and worshipping. More than anything, he enjoys spending time with his wife.
  • Mr. Prescott became a teacher because a college professor, Dr. Hodge, opened the world of great literature and good writing.
  • In the past 25 years, Coach Prescott has also coached various high school, Middle School, and college athletics teams in baseball, boys' basketball, volleyball and softball. He now enjoys coaching his children and their friends on youth sports teams as well as officiating with his oldest son, Jordan.
  • In a previous life, Mr. Prescott's 1994 University of Okoboji Volleyball Club won the USA Volleyball National Championship for 18 and Under Girls in Austin, Texas. His 1992 Spencer High School volleyball team finished second to Dubuque Wahlert in the Iowa State Volleyball Tourney. He has had the privilege of coaching in five different state tournaments (baseball in 1985 and 1986, basketball in 1986, and volleyball in 1985 and 1992).
  • Mr. Prescott enjoys being a part of the excellent school staff at W-SR Middle School. It is simply the best school at which he has taught, and the other two schools were really good! He is thankful that he lives in a country with unlimited freedoms and opportunities, and he is also thankful to live in a community that values freedom and education.
