  • Elementary principal at Carey and Shell Rock Schools.
  • Started teaching in 1984 as a physical education teacher at St. Paul's School in Waverly.
  • Became an elementary principal at Southeast School in WSR in 1995 and was shared with Clarksville Schools. 2003 is her first year in Waverly-Shell Rock full time.
  • Received her high school diploma from Davenport Central, earned her B.A. from UNI, and earned her M.A. from UNI.
  • Worked for the Parks and Rec. program in her hometown every summer as a park recreation leader until she graduated from college, and then she became a teacher and a principal.
  • Her birthday celebration is October 28 ...
  • Interests include reading, walking, and taking long and adventurous car trips with the family every summer.
  • Became a teacher to help make a positive impact on students. It is a very rewarding and fulfilling profession.
  • Has a husband and three children
  • Iowa's Elementary Principal of the Year in 2001.

  • In 2006 hired at Waverly- Shell Rock teaching Kindergarten at Carey School
  • Interests- Spending time outside (biking, jogging/walking, playing at parks and pool with her sons, camping, and boating), scrapbooking, reading, and watching movies.
  • Family- Ryan (Husband) is an Agronomist for Agrigold Hybrids and sons, Cash and Beckett

  • Attend Carey School when she was in elementary school.
  • 1983 she graduated from UNI
  • Started teaching in 1985 in Clear Lake, Iowa
  • Taught 3rd grade for 5 years and 2nd grade for 7 years
  • Started as a substitute in Waverly in 1996.
  • In 1998. she was hired half time Title 1 at South East
  • 1999 she moved to Carey. Where she was employed full time.
  • Her interests include watching her kids in their activities, reading, scrapbooking, attending UNI sporting events, and she is an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
  • She chose to be a teacher because she liked school herself, and she had great teachers while at W-SR. And she enjoys the kids, and watching them grow and learn.
  • Her husband, Jeff is Controller at Viking Pump, Daughters are Natalie (Class of 2008) and Teal (2012).   Their family also has a golden retriever named Carter.

Southeast, Carey, and West Cedar Vocal Music

"Ms. R" started teaching at Waverly-Shell Rock in the fall of 2006.  Previously she taught at IKM (Manilla) and St. Mary's Catholic School in Storm Lake.  She has had a variety of experience including K-6 General music, 5-6 Instrumental music, K-12 Vocal music, 7-8th grade Language Arts and 4th grade.  She has a bachelor's degree from Buena Vista University (Go Beavers!) and has her Orff-Schulwerk levels I & II from Drake University.  She earned her Masters Degree in Education from Viterbo University in July of 2009.  Currently she teaches K-4 General Music at West Cedar, Southeat and Carey.  In the summer, Ms. Rasmussen directs the musical theatre production for the Donna Reed Festival in Denison, Iowa, (www.donnareed.org) and throughout the year, directs the Trinity Kidz theatre troupe at the Trinity Methodist Church in Waverly.  In her spare time, Ms. R enjoys going to concerts and theatrical events as well as watching movies, traveling, and visiting friends and family.
